Why vote?
While the 2014 General Elections recorded the highest voter turnout with two-thirds of the electorate (55 crores in 2014) casting their vote, what is noteworthy is that one-third of the electorate did not exercise their vote, and one percent of this voting electorate (0.6 crores in 2014) opted for NOTA (None of the Above).
The non-voting electorate is a sizeable number (28 crores in 2014) which can change which party will form the government.
A citizen’s vote is his tool to express his assent or dissent in a democratic nation and is as much a citizen’s duty as a right. Voting is crucial in ensuring that citizens get the government they both, desire and deserve.
